Dealers sometimes cut MDMA to increase their profit margins. With this test, you’ll be able to find out whether and how much your MDMA has been cut. As a general guideline, you can say that when there’s a high percentage of MDMA present in the sample, you’re close to the top source, which means less potentially dangerous cutting agents.
MDMA Purity Test Kits Includes
Depending on what you select, our MDMA purity test kits include the following:
10 – Pack MDMA Purity Tests | 1 Single MDMA Purity Test |
---|---|
|
|
Important
Please use only 20 mg (a tiny amount) of your sample. If you use too much, the results will be skewed! When comparing different samples, test using the same quantity from each. You can use the materials that come with the kit to help you get the right amount. However, for best results, use a scale to weigh the exact amount of powder. You can buy a good portable digital scale from here:
Tips
Test samples from different sources at the same time, so that you can more easily compare results. Take pictures of the test results under the same lighting and with the same camera. Use the pictures to compare with results from future tests.
MDMA Cuts
When MDMA has been cut with some substances, other reactions may occur. This MDMA purity tester gives reactions to some cutting agents which may alter the colors. Here is a list of substances that may interfere and their reactions:
Substance | Reaction |
---|---|
Benzocaine | Very light yellow color of the bottom layer no color on change on the top layer. (MDMA only colors the top layer) |
BZP | Bright yellow top layer, gives residue on the sides of the ampoule in between the two layers. (MDMA does not give this residue) |
mCPP | Bright yellow-orange top layer, gives residue on the sides of the ampoule in between the two layers. (MDMA does not give this residue) |
MDA | Same reactions as MDMA |
Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) | Yellow top and bottom layers (MDMA only colors the top layer) |
Phenacetin | Yellow top and bottom layers (MDMA only colors the top layer) |
TFMPP | Bright yellow top layer, gives residue on the sides of the ampoule in between the two layers. (MDMA does not give this residue)
|
If one of these reactions is observed, the purity of the substance cannot be determined with this test. This is because these substances interfere with the color development of the test. Therefore the purity cannot be accurately determined.
Note: This test does not require the use of a buffer solution as shown in the above video. MDMA colors the top layer in the ampoule, not the bottom layer. Scale and ampoule rack are not included, but you can get them separately.
MDMA (Molly/Ecstasy) Purity Testing FAQ
How accurate are the MDMA purity test results?
The longer you wait, the more prominent the color change. While purity reading charts are provided for time durations less than one hour, we recommend waiting the full hour if possible. This should allow you to get a reading within about 5-10% accuracy. Please follow the rest of the instructions precisely to avoid skewing the results. It’s important to use a 20 mg sample without any lumps or “rocks”.
Can cuts affect the results?
Some other substances are known to influence this MDMA purity tester. Please see the “MDMA Cuts” table above for details.
Does the MDMA Purity Test check for Fentanyl in my Sample?
No. To test MDMA samples for fentanyl, we recommend our forensic fentanyl test kit, or getting some fentanyl test strips. We highly recommend testing your MDMA for fentanyl, as a small amount can be fatal. The clandestine nature of illicit drug labs and lack of manufacturing and quality controls means that fentanyl contamination in MDMA is a real risk.
Note
No drug (whether legal or illegal) is completely safe, we recommend avoiding all recreational drug use.
